Mount Fuji
The one and only!
-
Ashikaga Flower Park
Just a short post about a nearby flower park with a light show. The kids had a great time last weekend after Caroline's party.
-
Yamagata Prefecture
Up to Yamagata Prefecture for a mountain temple, a crater lake (which we couldn't see), and beautiful fall colors (depending on the elevation). Nonetheless, a cool experience for sure!
-
Nagoya Finally!
Down to Nagoya for the first time since we've been living in Japan. Another effect of coronavirus. But better late than never to see Uncle Yuhei!
-
うんどうかい Sports Day
The kids put in a lot of hard work over the past month for this day. The weather was perfect and we loved seeing them perform with their friends.
-
Izu Peninsula
We drove south of Tokyo to the Peninsula of Izu to visit our friends from Yokohama, which we met in America last year.
-
Kusatsu Hot Spring Town
We headed up to Mount Haruna in Gunma Prefecture for the cool mountain roads. But we ended up having an even better experience at the hot spring epicenter of Kusatsu!
-
Bamboo Forest Night Walk
To a bamboo forest for a night walk and tea. We felt so far away and secluded, but we were still in Utsunomiya!
-
Wakayama Vacation
For the summer holidays, we drove 9 hours down to the southern tip of the main island to a World Heritage site called Kumano Sanzan. It was a fun and interesting 5 days.

Matsushima Bay
Up to see one of the "Three Views of Japan" at Matsushima Bay. Rainy weather all weekend just made it relaxing and cozy hanging out in our airbnb most of the time.
