Mashiko Pottery Festival

There is a cute little town about 30 minutes from us called Mashiko. They are known for their special pottery. Apparently they have a special way to bake their clay in stacked kilns. I don’t know how anyone else bakes clay so I have to take their word for it that this is unique.

The town hosted a festival this weekend and it was packed with people. All the parking was full. And we got there right when the festival started. Luckily we had a co-worker who lives in the town and let us park at his house.

Some of the things were super expensive. Like $70 per tea cup. So a set of 4 would be $280! Luckily we found the bargain bin for $1.50 per tea cup. Nice.
