Mochi Roasting
This morning at Caroline’s school they had a Mochi Roasting event. They made 4 giant bonfires using all the decorations from New Years celebrations. They invited people to come and bring their new year’s wreaths to burn as well. Its for good health throughout the year. Apparently if you roast mochi over these fires and eat it, then you will have good health for the year. It was a cool experience. The kids enjoyed roasting the mochi, but not so much eating it. They look like marshmallows so they look delicious, but they are just rice balls so they taste like rice. And that’s not a bad taste, but its super disappointing when you are expecting a marshmallow.

Life can be tough when you’re a kid. Sometimes you get a marshmallow…sometimes you get a rice ball.
