Snowy Lake Chuzenji
We all just got over being sick for the past 1.5weeks and we needed to get out of the house. So we decided to go to our convenient close get-away spot, Lake Chuzenji. Its always fun to go up there because its less than an hour away and the experience is always different. The weather can change in an instant and completely change the experience. Which was the case this time. The night before it had snowed up on the mountain, but in the morning it was really warm. So the roads were clear, but the trees were still covered in snow and it was beautiful.
We got up to the first stopping point where there is a little parking lot and a cable car up to an adjacent peak, which gives a great view of the lake and the famous waterfall, called Kegon Falls. We had never taken the cable car up there, but it was really cool.
After that, we rode the cable car back down to our car and continued the drive up the mountain to the little town. We stopped at our favorite restaurant, which was made so due to our first trip up here with Dom and Alex in the cold rainstorm of October 2019. Which you can check out here.
After our bellies were full, we took a walk to get a closer look at Kegon Falls.
Then we decided to take the elevator ride down to the base of the falls. This was another first time experience for us. There was no wait and we got right on the elevator.
After that we finally made it to the lake. We walked around a bit and found a snowman that someone had made. We thought about renting a paddle boat, but the wind was picking back up and we could see the dark clouds rolling in again. So we just settled for a little walk.
Finally, before the weather changed into rain, we drove up past the lake to see the Senjougahara Moor. We had a little snowball fight and hilarity ensued. As you will see in the video.
And that was our first venture out of the house in almost 2 weeks!
