Under the Bridge

Japan’s “Golden Week” started yesterday, so I have a week off work. But the country is pretty much locked down due to coronavirus so there’s not much we can do. We tried to go hiking this morning, hoping that it would be a good activity to keep our social distance. But unfortunately the parking lot was roped off and we couldn’t get in. But there were people parking along the road and just walking in. So we did that. We decided not to hike though because there were signs all around requesting people to not hike. So we just walked around the lake and left.

Then on our way home we stopped at the bridge over the Kinugawa River. We decided to play in the water and walk across the giant rocks. The kids had a great time in the water. I think during rainy season this river gets pretty huge, but right now its shallow and easy to walk in. There were a bunch of people parked under the bridge with their grills and tunes from their cars. I think we found hillbilly central, but we felt at home.

Not how we originally planned our golden week, but we are making the best of it, trying to stay distant, but still have fun.

No, it was really hot that day so the water felt great! Japan has so many beautiful sites and we can’t wait to explore more. And this is only in our state! Imagine what could be in other states!
