Kanuma River Picnic
It was raining all morning, but we really wanted to get out and do something. We decided we didn’t care if we got wet, and we set out toward the mountains to the west. There was a river spot that was recommended to us. It was about an hour drive and by the time we got there, the weather was perfect.
The river was littered with fishermen about every 20 feet. But we found a sweet spot in between some of them and set up our picnic on the river.
There was a giant flat boulder we used to set up our gas cook top and to sit and eat. We made hotdogs in a skillet. Even though there were fishermen all around, it felt super secluded and far from civilization. We had to drive into the mountains a bit to get here and there were no prepared paths to get to the river. It seemed like there were no rules and nobody was going to enforce anything. It was refreshing.
After we finished eating, we just hung around for a couple hours playing in and around the water. There were a few spots the kids had to stay away from because the water was pretty raging. But for the most part our boulders diverted the water and gave us some slow flowing pools.
We were so happy we braved the rainy weather, because it turned out to be worth it.
