Bamboo Forest Night Walk

Last weekend we went to a bamboo forest in our city that Heather found. And honestly I thought it was even better than the famous bamboo forest in Kyoto. The Kyoto one has one spot to take the famous instagram photo, but this one in Utsunomiya is picturesque everywhere. That’s just my opinion though.

We went at night and they gave us some pretty lanterns to carry around. Even in the afternoon bamboo forests are surprisingly dark, and at night they are pitch black. So it was fun carrying the lanterns through the forest. And there were some areas with pretty illumination as well.

Also we bought 4 tickets to have a tea party in the middle of the forest. There was clearing with a tent and a “bartender” making tea and serving it in freshly cut bamboo cups. We were allowed to take the bamboo cups home with us too! It was really cozy though. Out in the middle of a pitch black bamboo forest drinking green tea from bamboo cups. That was pretty cool.

Tea Party!

That was it! Only a 30 minute drive for a great experience and to feel so far away. I want to go back in the daytime!
