The Beginning
So I started practicing on this blog in anticipation that we would get to move to Japan. So all the posts before this one might be strange or out of place, but that’s because I was just trying different things. But I think I have the formatting and process figured out now and I will try to keep it more organized and easy to follow.
There are two main purposes to this blog.
1) Share our life in Japan with family and friends
2) Document our life in Japan so we can look back on it in the future
Yesterday we had the final presentation to the Honda R&D Americas President, SVP, and VP for my overseas assignment proposal. There were 7 proposals and only 5 people were supposed to get chosen.
It turns out that only 4 people got chosen. But that doesn’t matter. It only matters that I was one of them!
So around 5pm today, my boss got the email from the president’s secretary, informing him that I was selected to participate in the overseas assignment program. I, of course, had to do a flex out. I was pumped. This is what I had worked towards for almost 9 years at Honda.
Caroline is excited to go there because one of her classmates just moved there three weeks ago. His dad works at Honda. So she’ll get to see him. She is already interested in the language. She asked me how to say…
‘bath’ – おふろ
‘fan’ – ファン
‘shower’ – シャワー
I guess those are pretty useful words for a 4 year old.
