Found Our House!
I went to the realty company this morning. They are called Mini Mini! I don’t know why. I had previously given them our requirements and they were able to find only 2 options. And Honda expects you to find your house on this day. So it had to be one of them. Luckily, one of them was the one that Heather had found while researching herself, and we both really liked it. So I chose that one after seeing it in person.
Unfortunately, the realtor said he’s not 100% sure that it’s available. He needed to make some calls. So I had to wait around all day. Finally it was confirmed that we could have this house.
Its a little over 1500 sq. ft., which is pretty huge by Japanese standards. We have plenty of room for guests!! (The other house they showed me was a little over 900sq. ft.)

Does that table have a hole under it for storage or something? Congrats on finding a place that is super exciting!
Justin
Thanks! That is not a hole for storage. This is a super Japanese thing. There is a mini space heater down in that hole. So you can sit around the table in the winter time and keep your furnace off to save energy.

Congrats man!!
I thought Honda provides small Japanese apartment so this is incredibly over my guessing!!
It would very cost if we buy this house…
Buying house is really tough in Japan.
Below is for Kevin;-)
That style table is called “Hoei-Gotatsu” in Japanese.
In winter, usually we use “Kotatsu”, which is a table installed heater inside and covered with blanket and light sheets.
Put our legs inside the kotatsu and warm up body, even you can lie down then take a nap.
As for “Hori-Gotatsu”, there is a leg space on the floor so you can not lie down but you can go down and enjoy someone’s smelly feet inside. lol
Kotatsu is one of Japanese traditional furniture.
The most important point is this furniture has a super monster inside which make people super lazy. If there are tons of mandarin orange on top of the kotatsu, people will never leave from there anymore.
I am super psyched to visit your house near future!!!

Looks really sweet. No grass to cut?

I do like the house. Is there a garage?
Justin
No garage, but it has 2 parking spaces. The yard is actually kind of big, but I don’t know what responsibility we will have to cut grass.

Heather just took the photo tour of your new house. It is absolutely lovely. Mrs. Rhodes is so proud of you. Another success from the old neighborhood. Never know, we might visit Japan while you are there. Will follow your blog Good luck my dear.
