Nikko Trip
Over the past 2 days we visited Nikko world heritage site and Lake Chuzenji area. Nikko and Chuzenji are right next to each other, but we had to break it up into 2 days because we just didn’t have enough time to hit both in one day.
We arrived to Nikko around 8am before any of the tourists arrived. It was easy to park and super peaceful for about an hour. But even after that, not many tourists were there because it was a weekday and it was a little rainy. But it was still beautiful.
Then the next day we went up to the Chuzenji Lake area to see the small mountain town, see the autumn colors, and see the waterfalls. The end of October is the prime time to see fall colors around this area so it should have been crazy packed with people. However, it was so cold and rainy and cloudy that it scared off all the people. There was no one around.
But we had to brave the elements to get to a cute little ramen shop.
Then we went back out into the weather to see the first waterfall called Kegon Falls. It was super tall and powerful. The kids were not enjoying the walk because of the weather, but once we made it to the waterfall they loved it.
Then we got in the warm car and drove about a mile to the next waterfall, called Ryuzu Falls. Its supposed to be a 2 headed dragon (maybe?) Or a dragon’s tongue? All I know is that it was really pretty with the autumn colors around it.
After that, we got back into the car and drove down the mountain. It was a little over an hour drive and the kids passed out from our busy day.

How are the kids liking the food?

They actually like a lot of it. Pretty much anything we get them, they eat it.
